When I got out of the Military I found my interests turned to building things. I built houses and furniture and decks for companies and customers for several years. I found that I had a talent for doing this type of work. I also found that it was very satisfing and it gave me a great feeling to be able to construct things that gave people a place to live and to enjoy themselves, and take as much pride in ownership as it did for me to build. I find it great to be able to drive around by my self or with friends and show them all the different things that I have built.

On of my proudest projects is this bridge that I built in 1988 in the town of Stockdale just outside of Frankford Ontario. When I heard that it was to be built I went in search of the contractor. found the sub contractor and got myself hired on as a labourer. Well shortly there after it was plain to see that this gentleman was over his head and I soon found myself in control of the whole project and I was successfull and completed the job in late March the following year. I enjoy passing over this bridge even today, for it gives me a real boost to know that I built it. So if you are ever near the Frankford, Wooler area in Southern Ontario, I suggest that if you would like a nice place to have a picnic or take some nice family pictures that you ask for the where abouts of Tweedy"s Saw Mill and when you arrive there you will also see the bridge that Steve built.
